The U.S. Census Bureau released new data on Mar. 26 from the Household Trends and Outlook Pulse Survey, known as HTOPS, covering a range of topics including food and nutrition, health and well-being, transportation, employment, and education.
The release provides updated insights into the socioeconomic conditions of U.S. households at both national and smaller geographic levels. This information is intended to help federal agencies assess conditions, monitor trends, and inform operational or policy decisions.
The latest dataset comes from a sample of about 30,000 households surveyed in April 2025. The Census Bureau said that users can access the HTOPS dataset as a public-use file to create customized tables based on their needs.
HTOPS is described by the bureau as an experimental product collected every other month with both core questions and rotating topics to track changing household circumstances across the country.
Additional data collected later in 2025 are expected to be released in the coming months.
