The U.S. Census Bureau has released new data tables detailing the foreign-born population by generation, based on findings from the 2024 Current Population Survey Annual Social and Economic Supplement (CPS ASEC).

These tables present a range of social and economic characteristics for three groups: first-generation individuals who are foreign-born, second-generation individuals with at least one foreign-born parent, and third-and-higher generation individuals with two U.S.-born parents. The information covers employment status, education levels, household income, poverty status, race, age, and sex.

The Current Population Survey is recognized as one of the oldest and largest surveys in the United States. It serves as the main source for monthly labor force statistics and is also used to gather data for other studies that track the nation’s economic and social conditions.
