Southern California Edison (SCE) has reported progress in its efforts to support those affected by the Eaton Fire, announcing that more than 500 compensation offers have been made to individuals and businesses. The program, which began just over 100 days ago, is designed to deliver relief more quickly than traditional litigation, with total offers now exceeding $165 million.
Pedro J. Pizarro, president and CEO of Edison International, SCE’s parent company, stated: “We know how deeply the Eaton Fire affected the community. This program is one way we’re working with clarity and compassion to support those impacted and help them move forward. Reaching 500 offers reflects our commitment to helping the community recover as swiftly as possible.”
According to SCE, as of February 13, a total of 2,345 claims had been submitted on behalf of 6,778 individuals. Of these claims, 507 offers were extended covering 1,457 individuals. Seventy-one claim payments totaling more than $15 million have already been made or are currently being processed.
The average time for submitting a claim is just over 100 minutes. SCE notes that its team provides direct assistance throughout the process and aims to deliver settlement offers within 90 days of receiving a fully documented claim; many are processed even faster. Payments are typically issued within five days once all conditions in the settlement agreement are fulfilled.
To help expedite the process for claimants, SCE advises gathering supporting documents in advance and saving them digitally for easier uploading during online submission. Claimants are also encouraged to monitor their email inboxes closely—including spam or promotions folders—for updates from SCE staff and respond promptly if additional information is requested.
Individuals can submit claims or access resources such as sample offers and frequently asked questions through the Wildfire Recovery Compensation Program web page or seek one-on-one assistance by calling 888-912-8528. In-person appointments and multilingual support are available. Firms representing multiple clients can use a bulk intake process by contacting SCE via email.
Southern California Edison serves approximately 15 million people through five million customer accounts across Central, Coastal, and Southern California in a service area spanning about 50,000 square miles.
