Snap Inc. announced on Apr. 2 that it is changing the name of its Spotlight feature to Reals.

The company said the new name better reflects how users share unfiltered and in-the-moment content on the platform.

According to Snap Inc., “Every day, Snapchatters come to Spotlight to share what’s actually happening: unfiltered, in-the-moment, and uniquely them. So we’re giving it a name that better reflects the way our community shows up.” The statement added, “Starting today, Spotlight is now Reals.” The company also noted, “Its the same place for spontaneous reactions, everyday highlights, and everything in between, now just with a new name that keeps it Reals.”

The rebranding aims to emphasize authenticity among Snapchat users who use the feature for sharing real-life moments as they happen.

With this change, Snap Inc. continues its efforts to keep its platform relevant and engaging for its community.
