Snap Inc. has announced the introduction of two new features for its Snapchat platform: Infinite Retention and Group Streaks. These additions aim to give users more control over their chat experiences.

According to Snap Inc., Infinite Retention allows users to save their chats indefinitely within individual conversations. When this setting is activated, all participants in the conversation are notified about the change.

The company also unveiled Group Streaks, which lets every member’s Snap contribute to a shared streak within group chats. The streak continues as long as most members participate regularly. As with other Snapchat streaks, participation in Group Streaks is optional and private. Users have the option to restore a group streak within a week if it ends.

In a statement from Snap Inc., the company said: “We’ve often heard from our community that Snapchatters want to save their chats forever and wish they could build streaks with their favorite groups. We’ve been testing ways to bring these features to our Snapchat community, and we’re now ready to roll them out broadly.”

Snap Inc. added: “Infinite Retention can now be enabled for each individual conversation, and everyone receives a clear notification when the setting changes.”

Regarding Group Streaks, Snap Inc. stated: “With Group Streaks, every Snap you share contributes to a collective Streak, making it simple to celebrate your group. Group Streaks will continue as long as most of the members participate, so it’s easy to keep it going. Like other Streaks, they are entirely optional, and private, and you can restore the Streak within a week of when it ended if you want to keep it going.”

The company concluded: “We hope you enjoy these new ways to customize your chats!”
