Feldheym Central Library in San Bernardino will celebrate its 40th anniversary on September 29. The event will take place from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the library, located at 555 W. Sixth St., according to an announcement on the city’s website.

The celebration marks the beginning of a year-long series of events commemorating four decades of the library’s service to the community. The program will feature a performance by the San Bernardino Youth Symphony, food provided by local vendors, and a show by magician Joe Wonderment.

Attendees will also have an opportunity to preview Garner Holt Production’s Animakerspace, which is expected to open next year in Redlands. The Animakerspace aims to introduce children, teens, and adults to new technologies such as operating 3D printers and programming animatronics.

Ed Erjaveik, library director, stated: “The 40th anniversary of Feldheym Library reminds us of how this building has played an important part in the lives of generations of San Bernardino residents. Celebrating this anniversary will both bring back memories for longtime patrons and provide a sneak preview of things to come.”

Sponsors for the event include Thinkwise Credit Union and the San Bernardino City Library Foundation.
