Amazon MGM Studios and Prime Video have announced a lineup of nine films set for release in fall 2025, offering a mix of theatrical premieres and streaming exclusives.
The slate includes “Play Dirty,” directed by Shane Black and starring Mark Wahlberg, LaKeith Stanfield, Rosa Salazar, Keegan-Michael Key, Chukwudi Iwuji, Nat Wolff, Thomas Jane, and Tony Shalhoub. The film will be available on Prime Video starting October 1.
“Maintenance Required,” premiering October 8 on Prime Video, follows Charlie, the owner of an all-female mechanic shop who faces competition from a corporate rival. The cast features Madelaine Petsch, Jacob Scipio, Madison Bailey, Katy O’Brian, Inanna Sarkis, Matteo Lane, and Jim Gaffigan.
On October 10, “After the Hunt” will debut in theaters. Directed by Luca Guadagnino and starring Julia Roberts alongside Ayo Edebiri, Andrew Garfield, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Chloë Sevigny, the psychological drama centers on a college professor confronting allegations against a colleague while dealing with secrets from her own past.
Also releasing October 10 on Prime Video is “John Candy: I Like Me.” Directed by Colin Hanks and produced by Ryan Reynolds, the documentary explores the life of comedian John Candy through home videos and interviews with family members and collaborators. According to the filmmakers: “It’s the story of a son, husband, father, friend, and professional driven to bring joy to audiences and loved ones while battling personal ghosts and Hollywood pressures.”
The third installment of a Spanish-language romance trilogy concludes with “Culpa Nuestra” (“Our Fault”), arriving October 16 on Prime Video. Nicole Wallace and Gabriel Guevara lead the cast as their characters navigate unresolved issues at a wedding reunion.
“Hedda,” directed by Nia DaCosta and featuring Tessa Thompson in the lead role with Imogen Poots, Eve Hewson, Tom Bateman among others will premiere in theaters on October 22. The film reimagines Henrik Ibsen’s classic play for modern audiences.
Tyler Perry directs “Finding Joy,” which debuts November 5 on Prime Video. Shannon Thornton stars as Joy—a New York fashion designer seeking new beginnings after career setbacks. The supporting cast includes Tosin Morohunfola, Brittany S. Hall, Inayah among others.
“Sarah’s Oil,” based on true events from early-1900s Oklahoma Indian Territory about Sarah Rector—one of America’s first female African American millionaires—will open in theaters November 7. Cyrus Nowrasteh directs Zachary Levi along with Naya Desir-Johnson portraying Sarah Rector; Sonequa Martin-Green and Garret Dillahunt also appear.
Rounding out the schedule is “Oh. What. Fun.” premiering December 3 on Prime Video; it follows Claire Clauster as she organizes a Christmas outing after being forgotten by her family during holiday preparations.
Amazon MGM Studios also announced that Denis Villeneuve will direct the next James Bond film with Tanya Lapointe serving as executive producer; Amy Pascal and David Heyman remain attached as producers. According to Amazon MGM Studios: “Amazon MGM Studios today announced that Denis Villeneuve will direct the next James Bond film. Additionally, Tanya Lapointe will serve as executive producer. As previously announced, Amy Pascal and David Heyman will serve as producers.”
This upcoming collection highlights Amazon’s ongoing investment in both original content production for its streaming platform as well as traditional theatrical releases.
