Palm Springs has opened a temporary public library to serve residents while the city’s main library undergoes renovation. The new 6,000-square-foot facility is located at Rimrock Plaza, a shopping center at Gene Autry Trail and Palm Canyon Drive. The site began operations on August 25.
The city council approved a three-year lease for the storefront property in June. The original library at 300 Sunrise Way is scheduled to reopen in summer 2028.
The temporary library will be open from 10 a.m. Monday through Saturday. Closing times are set for 6 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays, 8 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and 5 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. The facility will remain closed on Sundays.
Teen and adult programs will continue at other locations, including the Welwood Murray Memorial Library at 100 S. Palm Canyon Drive and the Mizell Senior Center at 480 S. Sunrise Way.
