Harry Barrett Jr. will leave his position as executive director of Palm Springs International Airport, according to an April 3 statement on the city’s website. Barrett is set to become assistant director of Sacramento County’s Department of Airports.

Barrett has served as executive director since 2022 and joined the airport in 2020 as deputy director of operations and maintenance. He will remain at Palm Springs International Airport through May 21 and is scheduled to begin his new role in Sacramento on May 26.

City Manager Scott Stiles said, “Harry has helped guide Palm Springs International Airport through an important period of growth and progress. We appreciate his leadership, and his commitment to a thoughtful transition.”

During the transition period, the airport’s executive leadership group will oversee day-to-day operations. The statement said that an interim executive director has not yet been selected, and there is no timeline for filling the position permanently.

The change marks a significant moment for Palm Springs International Airport as it navigates leadership changes during a time of ongoing development.
