Moreno Valley is seeking input from residents and business owners regarding potential changes to truck routes within the city. The review comes as part of an effort to comply with state laws AB 98 and SB 415, which aim to lower air pollution and improve public health by imposing stricter regulations on heavy truck traffic.
According to a statement on the city’s website, the proposed update will not only examine current and future truck routes but also reconsider buffer zones between these routes and sensitive areas such as homes, schools, parks, and hospitals.
Mayor Ulises Cabrera stated, “The use of heavy-duty trucks for the transportation of goods plays an important role in our regional economy, but we must mitigate the impact it has on our neighborhoods. These proposed updates are about protecting public health, improving quality of life, and ensuring our city complies with state law while balancing the needs of residents and businesses.”
Residents with questions or comments about development standards related to AB 98 or SB 415 can contact the planning division by phone at (951) 413-3206 or via email at planningemail@moval.org.
