The Moreno Valley Mall will reopen after being closed for two weeks due to fire code violations. The city announced that the mall is cleared to resume business starting March 5.

Mayor Ulises Cabrera stated, “I’m pleased that we were able to reach a resolution that protects public safety and allows the Moreno Valley Mall to reopen. From the beginning, our priority has been ensuring the safety of our residents, workers, and businesses. I’m glad they can now reopen their doors, return to work, and continue serving our community.”

City officials had previously ordered the closure after finding several deficiencies related to fire safety. These included problems with the fire alarm system, smoke control system, fire doors, standpipe systems, dampers for fire or smoke control, emergency generators, and emergency lighting.

A follow-up inspection on March 4 showed that mall management had made progress in addressing these issues. Fire department officials determined it was safe for the mall to open again.

However, according to city statements, mall ownership must fully correct all outstanding issues by March 31 or face another shutdown.
