Moreno Valley will launch its first Citizens Academy next month, offering residents a series of six classes about the workings of city government. The program was recently approved by the city council and is now accepting applications until October 3, according to an announcement on the city’s website.

The sessions are free and will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at different city facilities. The initial class, focused on administrative services, is scheduled for October 15 at City Hall, located at 14177 Frederick St.

“We are committed to building trust and transparency through open communication with our residents,” said Mayor Ulises Cabrera in the statement. “The Citizens Academy is an opportunity for the community to see how city hall works, connect with our team, and gain knowledge that makes a lasting impact.”

Funding for the academy comes from the Moreno Valley Community Foundation. To participate, individuals must be at least 18 years old and either live in or own a business in Moreno Valley.

Applications can be submitted online at moval.org/citizensacademy.
