An affordable housing project called Liberty Lane has opened in Redlands, providing 80 homes for veterans and individuals with special needs. Of these, 62 units are designated for homeless and at-risk veterans.

The development is located at 1215-1231 Texas Street. Residents have access to support services such as case management, behavioral health care, clinical services, and rental assistance through Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing vouchers.

Supervisor and Board Chair Dawn Rowe stated, “We are proud to honor the men and women who served our country by providing safe, stable housing that supports their long-term success. Liberty Lane offers more than housing; it provides dignity and opportunity.”

Liberty Lane was developed by A Community of Friends, a nonprofit organization based in Los Angeles. The project involved collaboration with the San Bernardino County Community Development and Housing Department, the Housing Authority of the County of San Bernardino, the Department of Behavioral Health, the Loma Linda VA Medical Center, and U.S. VETS.

San Bernardino County contributed $5 million to support construction of the new community.
