The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) announced on Apr. 7 that registration is now open for the upcoming Retirees Assistance Program, which will take place from June 14 to June 19, 2026, at the William W. Winpisinger Education and Technology Center in Hollywood, Maryland.
The program aims to provide IAM retirees with information and resources to help them address challenges commonly faced during retirement. Organizers say participants will have access to a variety of educational sessions focused on topics such as elder abuse awareness, mental health, self-care strategies, senior addiction issues, healthcare navigation skills, and volunteer opportunities.
In addition to these core subjects, the program will offer courses on community resource identification and use, dementia awareness training, financial planning including asset protection guidance, considerations regarding senior housing options, advice for preparing for doctor visits, sensitivity training sessions designed for seniors’ needs, and information about advance directives.
Details about tuition costs, transportation arrangements and curriculum specifics are included in the official call letter issued by IAM policy. The association encourages interested retirees to review this information when considering participation.
As more union members enter retirement age each year, programs like this reflect ongoing efforts by labor organizations to support their members beyond active employment.
