The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) Midwest Territory and District 77 held the 25th Annual Guide Dogs of America (GDA) Charity Golf Tournament, known as the “John Massetti Memorial,” in Minnesota. The event brought together fifty-six golfers and raised more than $15,000 for Guide Dogs of America | Tender Loving Canines. Raffle prizes valued at over $5,000 were also distributed, made possible by supporters and sponsors.

The tournament was started by John Massetti, a member of Local 1833, who saw an opportunity to support GDA through golf rather than traditional motorcycle runs. Although Massetti passed away two decades ago, IAM District 77 and Local 1833 have continued organizing the event each year to raise funds for GDA’s mission of providing guide dogs and service dogs to those in need.

“I want to thank everyone who took time out of their busy schedules to come out and support Guide Dogs of America,” said IAM Midwest Territory General Vice President Sam Cicinelli. “It’s because of the dedication and hard work of our members, our retirees, and our volunteers that this event continues to be such a success.”

“This tournament is more than just a day on the golf course,” said IAM District 77 Directing Business Representative Andrew Peltier. “It’s a powerful way to honor John Massetti’s legacy and make a real difference in the lives of those who rely on Guide Dogs of America. The commitment and generosity of everyone involved is truly inspiring.”

For twenty-five years, the John Massetti Memorial Golf Tournament has continued its tradition with support from union members, retirees, sponsors, and friends.
