San Bernardino County announced on April 7 that a groundbreaking ceremony will be held for the West End Regional Navigation Center, a new facility aimed at supporting homeless individuals in Fontana.

The center is expected to provide significant resources for people experiencing homelessness by offering both shelter and recuperative care beds. The project aims to help individuals transition from homelessness into permanent housing.

According to San Bernardino County, the facility will include 100 shelter beds and 100 recuperative care beds for those awaiting permanent housing. The total cost of the project is estimated between $20 million and $30 million, with $11.6 million allocated for land acquisition. The navigation center will be built at 11109 Jasmine St., with completion anticipated next year.

The groundbreaking event is scheduled from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., marking the official start of construction on this regional effort to address homelessness in the area.

The development of this navigation center reflects ongoing efforts by local authorities to provide structured support services and temporary accommodations as part of broader strategies addressing homelessness.
