A family road trip through California offers a blend of educational and entertaining stops for children and adults. The journey begins in San Francisco at the Exploratorium, located on Pier 15 in the Embarcadero. This museum provides interactive exhibits such as standing inside a fog cloud or navigating the Tactile Dome in complete darkness.

The next destination is the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, situated in Silicon Valley. Here, visitors can learn about the origins of computers, developments like driverless cars, and notable figures including Ada Lovelace.

Continuing within Silicon Valley, families can visit The Tech Museum of Innovation in San Jose. Activities include building robots and engaging in cyber detective work. Nearby, the Children’s Discovery Museum offers hands-on experiences like blowing giant bubbles and learning about environmental systems.

Travelers then head to Gilroy Gardens along U.S. 101. This theme park features agriculture-themed rides such as the Artichoke Dip and a collection of uniquely shaped Circus Trees.

Further south on U.S. 101 is the Monterey Bay Aquarium, known for its bayside location and marine life exhibits. Visitors are encouraged to book tickets online to avoid waiting lines. Children have opportunities to participate in scuba tours.

The final stop is Fresno Chaffee Zoo, accessed via highways 152 and 99 through agricultural regions of California’s Central Valley. The zoo houses diverse wildlife from around the world and offers interactive experiences like feeding giraffes by hand.
