Edison International announced on April 8 that it has recognized 30 high school seniors as the recipients of the 2026 Edison Scholars awards. Each student will receive a $50,000 scholarship to support their college education as they pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).
The scholarships are intended to help reduce financial barriers for students who have demonstrated an interest in solving real-world challenges through STEM fields. The selected scholars come from across Southern California Edison’s service area and represent a variety of academic interests including engineering, computer science, environmental studies and health-related disciplines.
Pedro J. Pizarro, president and CEO of Edison International, said: “The next generation of leaders is essential to driving innovation and progress, and our 2026 Edison Scholars show the passion and purpose needed to shape our clean energy future. We are proud to support their academic journeys, and I look forward to seeing how they use their talents and determination to make a meaningful impact in their communities.”
Over the past two weeks, Edison International representatives visited schools in person to surprise each scholar with a commemorative medal and scholarship check during ceremonies attended by family members, friends and educators. In May, this year’s scholars will be honored at a reception at Edison International’s headquarters along with alumni from previous years.
Since launching the program in 2006, Edison International has awarded more than $22 million in scholarships to approximately 850 students. Many alumni have gone on to build careers across STEM fields such as computer science, civil engineering and environmental science.
The Edison Scholars program is fully funded by shareholders of Edison International.
