The U.S. Census Bureau announced on March 10 that it will provide a two-day embargo period for qualified media to access the Vintage 2025 population estimates for U.S. counties, metropolitan and micropolitan statistical areas, as well as Puerto Rico municipios and related areas. The embargo will run from Tuesday, March 24 at 10 a.m. Eastern Time until Thursday, March 26 at 12:01 a.m. Eastern Time.

This embargo allows members of the media to review population changes between April 1, 2020, and July 1, 2025 before the information is made public. The advance access is intended to help journalists prepare accurate coverage of demographic trends across the United States and Puerto Rico.

During the embargo period, subscribers can interview Census Bureau experts by requesting an appointment via email. The agency encourages embargo subscribers to confirm their login credentials by March 23 to ensure uninterrupted access to the site.

The Census Bureau reminds all embargo subscribers that no information may be published or shared in any form until after the public release date and time on March 26 at 12:01 a.m. Eastern Time.

For those interested in accessing the data under embargo or seeking assistance with registration or login issues, instructions are available on the Census Bureau’s embargo site.
