The U.S. Census Bureau has released updated Topologically Integrated Geographic Encoding and Referencing (TIGER)/Line files in multiple formats, including Shapefile, Geodatabase, and GeoPackage. These products enable users to create custom maps by combining the geographic data with various other sources.

The 2025 updates feature new Current Suffixed Blocks Geodatabases and GeoPackages. These datasets provide information on blocks from both 2020 and the current year, including suffixes that identify blocks split since 2020. This allows for connections to the Census Bureau’s current address count listing files.

Geospatial data in these products cover legal, administrative, and statistical boundaries as well as features like roads and bodies of water. The boundary data can be connected to future demographic information from 2025 using data.census.gov so users can visualize census tabular data geographically.

While TIGER/Line files do not include demographic statistics themselves, they contain geographic entity codes (GEOIDs) that allow linking with the Census Bureau’s demographic databases. For assistance in selecting the appropriate product, users are directed to visit the TIGER Data Products Guide page.
