Joaquin Gomez, a California-based Mechatronics and Robotics Technician at Amazon.com Inc., said that Amazon’s training and education resources allow employees to move beyond traditional roles, including apprenticeships or college paths. This statement was made in the Oxford Economics report.
“The four walls don’t define where a career at Amazon can go,” said Gomez, Mechatronics & Robotics Technician. “If you are willing to take the opportunity to learn, Amazon will give you the resources — whether it’s an apprenticeship program that Amazon has already set up or if you just want to go to college.”
According to the report, Amazon’s Career Choice program offers prepaid tuition for eligible employees. It provides learning pathways for foundational skills, industry certifications, college degrees, and English-language training. The program partners with hundreds of schools to prepare workers for high-demand fields.
Amazon’s upskilling initiatives include programs supporting training in robotics, automation, and advanced maintenance. These programs combine structured instruction with supervised practical experience. They help employees gain industry-recognized skills that support long-term career mobility.
Oxford Economics reports that counties where Amazon added at least 1,000 jobs saw improvements in multiple economic indicators. Unemployment declined, wages increased, and new business activity expanded within five years. The analysis shows Amazon’s presence strengthens regional labor markets.
Amazon’s California impact report highlights large-scale investment across fulfillment, logistics, and workforce operations. The company supports thousands of direct jobs through statewide facilities. Its operations also generate additional employment through supply-chain and vendor activity.
