Apple Valley will continue to operate its animal shelter after the town council voted unanimously against selling the facility to San Bernardino County. The decision was announced in a statement on the town’s website.
Town officials said that keeping the shelter allows Apple Valley to maintain programs and partnerships tailored to local needs. The shelter, located at 22131 Powhatan Road, provides services such as dog licensing, microchip identification, and pet adoptions for residents of Apple Valley and some unincorporated areas of San Bernardino County.
Mayor Scott Nassif stated, “We’re grateful to our residents for making their voices heard. The Apple Valley Animal Shelter is more than a facility, it’s a community resource, and we’re committed to keeping it that way.”
According to information on the shelter’s page on the town website, animals without identification or licenses are housed at the facility for as long as resources allow.
