Amazon is seeking Mechatronics & Robotics Technicians to support its Operations Maintenance team. These technicians are responsible for repairing and maintaining material handling equipment and pneumatic systems in Amazon facilities. Their work includes installing, maintaining, and repairing automated packaging and distribution equipment, as well as mentoring junior technicians.

The company highlights that its Reliability Maintenance & Engineering (RME) division works behind the scenes to ensure the smooth delivery of products globally. “We drive continuous improvement and maintain all of the Robotics and Material Handling Equipment (MHE) to ensure our customers are met with the Amazon smile,” according to Amazon.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent, at least one year of experience with Microsoft Office applications, and be able to work flexible schedules, including weekends, nights, or holidays. Other requirements include certification from Amazon’s Mechatronics and Robotics Apprenticeship Program or two years of experience with automated conveyor systems and controls, as well as experience in predictive and preventative maintenance procedures, reading blueprints and electrical schematics, safety standards, troubleshooting material handling equipment, robotic operation and maintenance, electrical principles, an associate’s degree in mechanical or electrical fields, or apprenticeship experience.

The job involves physical tasks such as moving up to 49 pounds, standing for shifts up to 12 hours, climbing ladders safely, bending, lifting, stretching, and reaching above the head or below the waist. The company notes that while it tries to accommodate shift preferences for employees, specific shift assignments cannot be guaranteed due to operational needs.

Compensation packages include comprehensive healthcare benefits starting on the first day of employment. Employees also receive matching 401(k) contributions and paid parental leave. Additional benefits such as employee assistance programs (EAP), mental health support services starting Day 1 of employment, medical advice lines, overtime pay eligibility depending on shift selection and location are provided by Amazon. More information about these benefits can be found on the company’s careers page at https://hiring.amazon.com/why-amazon/benefits.

Amazon states: “Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers.” The company affirms its commitment as an equal opportunity employer: “Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.”

Applicants in Los Angeles County are advised that job duties require working cooperatively with colleagues under stressful conditions while following all relevant laws and company policies. The company will consider qualified applicants with arrest or conviction records pursuant to local ordinances.
