Amazon announced on Mar. 31 that it is seeking a Mechanical or Electrical Integration Lead to oversee the installation, integration, and deployment of automation and material handling systems across multiple facilities in North America.

The position is important as Amazon continues to expand its use of automation technology in its operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that projects meet safety, timeline, cost, and quality standards while managing installation crews and collaborating with engineering, supply chain, and operations teams.

According to Amazon’s job posting, key responsibilities include leading the delivery of complex projects with multi-site impact, providing technical expertise for automation initiatives across assigned sites, implementing scalable solutions across facilities, recommending process improvements, maintaining technical documentation, managing vendor relationships, and participating in technical reviews. The role requires at least five years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing engineering environment and a bachelor’s degree. Candidates should also have project management experience with technical projects and be willing to travel up to 50% of the time or more when needed.

Applicants are expected to have knowledge of AutoCAD, VBA programming language skills at an intermediate level as well as SQL; experience working with third-party vendors; familiarity with Six Sigma methodologies; prior experience managing various skilled trades such as millwrights or maintenance technicians; previous work for a material handling integrator; and hands-on involvement installing conveyor or sortation systems.
