Amazon announced on Apr. 7 that it is seeking an Employee Relations Manager to support its last mile delivery services in the Southern California region. The role will cover sites across one or more operational regions and requires significant domestic travel, sometimes with short notice, up to 50% of the time. The position is open to candidates throughout the United States but requires regular return-to-office attendance.
The company said the main objective of its North American Employee Relations team is “to ensure treatment of employees that is fair, respectful, and consistent with our framework of our core business values and objectives.” Responsibilities for this position include both proactive and reactive tasks such as collaborating with field operations managers, analyzing employee feedback to identify risks, creating workplace relations programs, and conducting training sessions. The manager will also be responsible for addressing crisis-oriented situations under tight deadlines.
According to Amazon, “The successful Manager will be a strong project manager, capable of independently owning large-scale, network-wide projects.” The role also involves becoming a key source regarding whether organizational core values are being met.
Applicants must have at least seven years of experience in employee relations or labor law fields and possess a bachelor’s degree or equivalent. Advanced degrees or specialized training are preferred. Additional requirements include experience supporting large hourly workforces and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
For Los Angeles County applicants specifically, job duties include working safely with others, adhering to standards despite stress, communicating respectfully with staff at all levels, following laws and company policies, and safeguarding business operations. Amazon notes that criminal history may impact suitability for some job duties but states: “Pursuant to the Los Angeles County Fair Chance Ordinance, we will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.”
Amazon highlights its commitment as an equal opportunity employer: “Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers.” Accommodations are available during hiring for candidates with disabilities.
