Amazon has announced via Instagram that its KSBD Air Hub in San Bernardino has donated 171 children’s books to the Making Hope Happen Foundation. This donation supports a citywide initiative to provide every student in San Bernardino with a book by the end of the year.
According to Amazon’s official Instagram post, the Body Positive Peers (BPP) affinity group organized a book drive in September, collecting new and gently used books for local children. The effort resulted in a donation of 171 books to the Making Hope Happen Foundation, with titles suitable for students in grades K-6. Amazon said that the group plans to continue collecting until every student in San Bernardino receives at least one book, highlighting both employee engagement and community impact.
The Making Hope Happen Foundation leads literacy and scholarship programs supporting students within the San Bernardino City Unified School District. The foundation reports that community drives, including Amazon’s KSBD contribution, have collected over 20,000 books toward distributing one to every student in the city. Amazon’s participation strengthens this campaign by aligning corporate resources with a grassroots nonprofit mission to advance literacy.
The San Bernardino City Unified School District serves more than 46,000 students across 72 schools, many from historically underserved communities. Access to age-appropriate reading materials remains a challenge, with local officials noting that literacy programs are crucial for long-term academic success. Amazon’s KSBD donation of children’s books complements these educational goals by providing students with tangible resources outside the classroom.
According to Amazon’s official About page, Amazon is a multinational technology and logistics company founded in 1994 and headquartered in Seattle, Washington.
