Amazon MGM Studios has announced the release of “Hedda,” a modern adaptation of Henrik Ibsen’s classic play. The film stars Tessa Thompson as Hedda Gabler, a woman caught between the pain of a former romance and the constraints of her current life. The story follows Hedda as suppressed emotions and hidden conflicts surface, leading to a series of manipulations and betrayals that affect those around her.
The film had its world premiere at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival. It will have a limited theatrical release in New York and Los Angeles starting Wednesday, October 22. “Hedda” will then become available to stream on Prime Video on Wednesday, October 29. All Amazon Prime members can watch the film at no extra cost as part of their membership.
Prime Video is included with an Amazon Prime subscription, which costs $14.99 per month or $139 per year. The membership also offers other benefits such as free shipping, exclusive deals, and access to Prime Music.
