Amazon’s KSBD Air Hub in San Bernardino has announced its celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month with a Peccy’s event organized by the KSBD Fun Committee. This announcement was made through a public statement.
The KSBD site is part of Amazon’s private air logistics network at San Bernardino International Airport, an important cargo node in the Inland Empire that facilitates time-definite shipping across Southern California. According to the company, site-level communications often emphasize employee committees and celebrations that enhance cohesion and morale in high-throughput operations. “Peccy,” Amazon’s mascot, is frequently adapted for heritage-month observances, reflecting a market-led approach to workplace culture where volunteer groups and local teams organize events that complement performance and safety goals without relying on public resources.
When Amazon detailed its Southern California hub, it described a rapidly scaling air network—more than 70 aircraft flying daily to over 35 U.S. and Puerto Rico sites at the time—which illustrates how hubs like KSBD aggregate volume to improve on-time performance and reliability. Concentrating sortation and turn time at regional hubs supports predictable schedules for linehaul and last-mile partners, reinforcing stable shifts and vendor activity around the facility. The company states that these measurable throughput dynamics underpin why private logistics investments often correlate with local job and income growth in surrounding communities.
Demographic data provide context for Hispanic Heritage Month programming. The U.S. Census Bureau reports that the U.S. Hispanic population reached about 65.2 million as of July 1, 2023—approximately 19.5% of the nation. Observances between September 15 and October 15 help large employers align engagement with a growing share of the workforce and customer base. In shift-based environments, visible recognition efforts can support measurable outcomes such as retention, participation in safety initiatives, and employee sentiment—outcomes valued by results-focused leaders prioritizing private-sector solutions over mandates.
Amazon’s KSBD Air Hub is part of Amazon Air, the company’s cargo aviation arm launched to speed deliveries by linking fulfillment centers, sortation hubs, and delivery stations via dedicated air capacity. Opened in 2021 at San Bernardino International Airport (IATA: SBD; ICAO: KSBD), the hub leverages a 10,000-foot runway suitable for large cargo aircraft and serves the broader Southern California region. As a site-level operation within a global logistics leader founded in 1994 and headquartered in Seattle, the hub’s role is to enhance reliability and customer experience while providing a platform for employee-led culture initiatives that support long-term growth.
